Almost Two Weeks?!?!

Wow, almost two weeks and not a single post, what could have happened, wait... That's right, I've been sucked into the world of MMORPG's again, World of Warcraft has eaten my life.

So that's really all i've been doing latley, playing WoW, and not seeing Batman Begins, not because I don't want to see it mind you, but because my Ass has been stitched to the seat in front of my computer and FOODSTUFF(Trade Mark) has been pumping into my body to keep me alive while I run around a Candy Colored Forrest with my Green Haired Night Elf Druid enjoying life, I mean, unlife, er, the game...

P.S.

Going outside and seeing the sun or stars and brathing air that has not been recycled through your computers cooling fans is for Pussies.

Life in A.D. 6/6/05

Just a rundown of what I've been up to latley.

Work is really buisy for me this time of year, it's really good for the Bank, and not as good for my Saturday and Friday night Gaming. In the fall I will will be able to stop cutting out early on the weekends and let my friends bask in the warm glow that is I just a little later on those fateful evenings.

I have been listening to a criminal amount of Def Leppard latley, yes you heard me right, Def Leppard from the 80's, the band all the chicks liked. I grew up with these guys and to be honest thier "Pyromania" albom was the first rock record I ever baught (yes, Record, as in Vynil) and they just released a 2 disk collection of thier best stuff, ROCK!!!

World of Warcraft, the bane of all Role Players, PVP Haters, and Everquest Junkies has cought me in it's explosively colorful and cartoony clutches. I do have to say bieng a Role Playing snob myself that from a game design point of view it's near perfect, I feel like i'm playing a GAME almost all of the time and not like i'm working, or doing chores. With that said however I made a character on a PVP server that some friends are playing on, and that comunity there really grates on my nerves, well, I guess I should try a Character on a RP server as well.
So far, it's just as fun as EQ2 was in my opinion, mabe playing on a RP server will edge it past EQ2...

I had this last weekend all to myself, Jen went with our friend Kate to Laguna Beach. So, your asking yourself what kind of Male Debouchary I got myself into? Well, I cleaned the house, played WoW, went out to dinner with close friends, and then watched my friend Joe get hit on by a horney 45 year old woman at a bar. I know I know, exciting stuff, the type of things you wish you all could be doing if you werent all "Responsible". You might ask how I can keep such a crazy pace in my life and still be as Awsome as I am every other day, well, my friends, it's just a little something I like to call "Cool"

Welcome to Duckropolis

I wanted to write a little something about myself. I then realized that would be kind of boring, so, at the request of my Wife, I’m going to write about myself as if I was the citizenry of a town. So please enjoy your stroll through the bustling streets of this place known as Duckropolis.

Welcome to Duckropolis, to help with your tour, we will be covering this unique city in a few separate categories. We hope this introductory primer will help you better enjoy your stay while here in our lovely City.

PEOPLE

We think that you will find the populous of Duckropolis to be rather agreeable to almost every situation. People walk the streets pretty much keeping to themselves while going about their business. However, if you find you need assistance in Duckropolis the People will be quite eager to give you a hand in what it is you need. One might almost misjudge the people of Duckropolis to be rather dull, but that is not the case, as the people tend to try and offset their rather quiet and agreeable nature with the symbols of rebellion and “Bad Boy” style. Ear Rings and Facial Hair (Usually cut into some variant of the Goatee) are worn by the men of Duckropolis to help give them that much needed “Edge” to counter their docile demeanor. There is ONE Exception to this however, that is if you happen to ask a Citizen of Duckropolis a question in a place of business that they are not employed in simply assuming the person to be an employee just because he or she may be wearing a Neck Tie is totally off limits. Example… “How much is this Stereo” or, “Can I get some help around here please sir” would not be good questions to ask a citizen of Duckropolis that you find to simply be wearing a Neck Tie in a retail outlet but yet has a peculiar absence of any retail outlets Name Tags, or Badges, or, Uniforms. To be clear, a Tie alone does not dictate employment at a retail store, and it is one of the few things that really gets under a Duckropoleans skin.

SHOPPING

No Trip to Town would be complete without visiting its many Electronics, Toy, Comic Book, Music, Book, and Game stores. There are only three stores other than the ones mentioned above, a Target, an Albertsons, and An exotic women’s footwear outlet (By 1988 the only Shoes allowed by law for the Women of Duckropolis to wear are Strappy high heels and platforms).

RECREATION

Every Monday make sure you come out to the hippest club in all of Duckropolis; “The Garage” the Garage hosts live performances of original music by the area’s most gifted performers. Musicians from Duckropolis take the stage as well as Artists from the near by towns Billingsburg and Jacksonville.

Every Friday and Saturday take part in the local tradition of the people by pretending to be someone far more interesting than you are yourself. Act like a local and imagine yourself in unusual circumstances that only the most daring adventurer could ever escape from.

Let’s not forget taking in one of the many Movie Franchise marathons that take place regularly at the Fillhaber Theater. Why watch just one of your favorite chapters in series of adventure films, when you can sit on your ass all day and watch every one in a row.

“Round one FIGHT!”

It’s the weekly Street Fighter championship tournament that draws people from all walks of life to town, broadcast in High Definition and Closed Captioned for the Many Hearing Impaired Women of Duckropolis is this most exciting of events, every citizen and visitor is welcome to take part. “PERFECT”

DINING

Chicken Fingers. What more can be said about the culinary tastes of this Amazing Metropolis. All other food pales in comparison to the lightly spicy, soft, hot, dippable poultry product. One theory as to why the Chicken finger is the Official foodstuff of Duckropolis is that the residents seem to have a strange aversion to their food touching on the plate, and chicken fingers usually coming in a basket somehow break this strange local taboo.

Aside from the Chicken Fingers, you will find in Duckropolis…

Pizza
Shellfish
Italian Food
Fried Bologna Sandwiches
Beer
And yes, Fruits, and Vegitables

Well, I hope this short introduction to our wonderful City helps you on your visit here, stay as long as you like, and remember, you are always welcome.

Sincerely

Mayor Adam and Queen Jen

Well, it's Friday, and that means that my norml gaming Crew will be getting to gether to sit down here at my home and all pretend to be people far more interesting than they are in real life, Hehe, just kidding.

I've been running table top role playing games for years, I started when I was about 12, and have been running games ever since. This all brings me to the point of this entry, i was wondering how many differen't games I have run, and so, i'm going to take this time to try and list out all i can remember, so, here it goes.

My Memory is prety fuzzy on all of this, I've never actually sat down and tried to remember what all I have run, i know there is alot more, I haen't even covered Vampire, Wearwolf, Wraith, Kult, Marvel Super Heroes, DC Super Heroes....

These are just some of the games I can remember running over the years, it's not a complete list at all, and it doesen't include any of the games iv'e just played in.

Well, enough walking down memory lane, time to get to work on tonights game.

My Ongoing Dental Adventure

Kids, if I die and only have one thing to share with this world it's that remember when your Mom told you to Brush.... DO IT!!!

Ok, I'm not some crazy dental neglect guy, but I could have better habbits, you know, flossing more often, getting cleanings more often, that sort of thing.

I have had a coming and going Tooth ache for what seems like about seventy two years, actually, I think it's about two months, but finally after getting my wisdom tooth pulled, getting a cavity filled, and taking copious amounts of painkillers it's ALMOST at an end. I had the bulk of my root canal work done today, (The pulling and filling happened about a month ago) and it seems like all of the work will be done and fnished in a couple of weeks.

So look out Las Vegas, my Tooth is gettin' all fixed up, and i'm ready for some, um, chewing action?

In any event, i'll be Masticating with the best of 'em very soon!

The End of a Tale

I just got back for seeing Revenge of the Sith in the theater for the third time. I will surely be watching it again in the theater at least a couple more times and obviously watch it at home when the DVD is released later this fall. But I won’t be going to the theater to see a new Star Wars film ever again.

It sounds like nostalgic geekery to be talking about something as mundane as a movie, but it really is the end of a life long tale for someone my age and gender, at least for a large number of us. Some of my fondest memories growing up were the family outings to the movies, my Parents are pretty big movie buffs (I guess that’s where I get it from) and my Dad was always excited to take us all out to see whatever opened that weekend. We would all load up in the car and head to the local theater eager to see what adventure or drama or comedy was awaiting us. We would all discuss the feature on the ride home; my Dad would always ask the family the same question “What was your favorite part of the Movie”. I know now that he would usually ask because he was genuinely curious, and, he wanted to share his favorite part as well. This brings me to Star Wars, for my Family, there wasn’t a bigger movie going experience than Star Wars, granted, I think for any Boy, and most Girls growing up in the late seventies there wasn’t any movie bigger, any tale more Exciting, any Heroes more inspiring, and any Villains more threatening, it was the best of it’s kind. I remember staying up until midnight with my Dad waiting for the world premiere of Star Wars on HBO, not because I alone wanted to see it, but because my Dad couldn’t wait to see Star Wars in his very own living room. Waiting more than an hour and a half in line with my Family to see return of the Jedi on opening day, and then having the clerk tell us that we got the last tickets or the last screening of the day, I remember being in the theater on opening night of the Empire Strikes Back and hearing the crowd cheering and gasping at the revelation that Darth Vader was Luke’s Father. I remember all the excitement my parents had watching and talking about these movies as much as there children did. It’s moments like these that make me love these movies more than your average science fantasy film, Star Wars was like a family event when I was young, it was like your Birthday, or Christmas, but only came once every three years, and then, it was over.

When 1999 rolled around and the next Star Wars film came out watching it brought back all those memories and feelings I had as a kid with my family. Although now, I was an adult, and rather than seeing these movies with my Parents, I’m seeing them with my Wife, my brother, and my close friends, I feel like a kid again watching the story unfold that had only been hinted at in the films of my youth, seeing all that I had wondered about over that gap of years that separated the first films from the recent ones. Now with the last of the Star Wars Movies finished and done, it really feels like a period of my generations history is over, It’s been a long 28 years of story telling, and Star Wars will always have a significance for me that no other tale can replace, I simply have to many good memories around these films for it to be otherwise, and I know many of you are the same way after all, who grew up in the late seventies that didn’t play Star Wars rather than cowboys and Indians.

Would you like a little Whine with that Sir?

Ok, I guess by it's very nature this entry is a bit Whiney (is a post whining about whiners whiney?)

There is a trend that has become apperent to me, I don't know if it's my age and the age of the people that I associate with now, the social climate in the early 2000's or that I just started noticing it, but it seems more and more people seem to be trying to give themselves depth of character through their Whining and Complaining. Going onand on about how they can't stand X, or that Y did something to them, or that Z just doesn't understand. Who thinks that bieng a life long victem is somehow attractive?

Somewhere along the way in my generation it seems that being misserable has been confused with bieng intelectual and deep. Is it really all that intellegent of you to continually get yourself into these "Tragic" situations all the time, I mean, even Dogs and Cats know to temper their behavior to avoid past unpleasentness, but this generation of Whiners seems to run headfirst into tragedy and let down, all for the sake of bieng able to complain and whine about it, and in their minds eye seem that much cooler for it.

I guess my point after all MY Whining is that perpetual whining isn't deep, intelectual, cool, or attractive, it's well, kinda pathetic, and not very mature, and certainly, not interesting or deep.
